Unfit to fly certificate
For when a doctor finds that illness or injury makes flying unwise right now. Choose the Unfit to Travel option on the form.
If an illness or injury means you should not board a flight, you can request an unfit to fly certificate in Laos online through DrCertificate. DrCertificate is an online platform that connects people in Laos and nine other South East Asian countries with independent certified doctors.
Each request is reviewed by a doctor after a digital chat consultation.
Issue is never automatic. The doctor decides whether a certificate is appropriate, and approved certificates arrive by email as a PDF.
Yes. People in Laos aged 16 or over can request an unfit to fly certificate online through DrCertificate. You fill in an online form, pay through Stripe, and an independent certified doctor reviews your request by digital chat. If the doctor approves, the certificate arrives by email as a PDF. The service is for suitable non emergency situations only.
Travellers, workers and students are the groups in Laos who usually need an unfit to fly certificate. The need comes up when an illness or injury lands close to a booked flight and someone has to show why they should not board.
Visitors often fly out through Wattay International Airport in Vientiane or Luang Prabang International Airport. A stomach bug picked up on the road, a high fever or a fresh injury can make a long flight a bad idea, and the airline or travel company may want a doctor's note before it changes the booking. The rainy season, roughly May to October, brings more mosquito borne illness, including dengue.
Foreign staff based in Vientiane and Lao students heading abroad face the same problem when a planned trip clashes with being unwell.
An online request lets you describe your situation from a hotel room or from home, without travelling to a clinic while sick. Whether your airline, employer or school accepts the certificate is their decision, so check with them first.
Match the certificate to what the receiving organisation asked for
Pick the certificate that matches what your airline, employer or school asked for. The DrCertificate application form has four options, and every certificate below sits under one of them.
For when a doctor finds that illness or injury makes flying unwise right now. Choose the Unfit to Travel option on the form.
For time off work or university while you are unwell. Choose the Sick Leave option, which also covers a general medical certificate.
For when you can still work but should stay home. Choose the Work From Home option.
For proof of good health for a job, study, sport or travel. Fit to fly, fit to work and sports fitness requests all use the Medical Fitness Certificate option.
Getting an unfit to fly certificate online in Laos takes four steps, all done on your phone or computer. There are no video calls and no in person consultations.

Open the DrCertificate form, choose the Unfit to Travel option, and enter your details, symptoms and flight dates.
ຍື່ນຄຳຮ້ອງດຽວນີ້Pay the fee at the Stripe checkout. The payment covers the doctor's review, not a guaranteed certificate.
An independent certified doctor reads your request and may ask follow-up questions in the chat. Quick replies keep things moving.
If the doctor approves, your certificate arrives by email as a PDF. If the doctor does not approve, no certificate is issued.

Have your personal details and travel information ready before you start, because missing facts slow the doctor down.
Preparation takes only minutes and saves a round of follow-up questions.
Your full name as shown on your ID, your age and an email address you can check right away.
Why you cannot fly, when symptoms started and the flight date or dates the certificate needs to cover.
Any form or wording your airline, employer or school asked for.
A clear description of your symptoms and any existing medical records that relate to them.
The doctor checks whether the information you submitted supports an unfit to fly certificate and issues one only if it is medically appropriate. Paying the fee does not guarantee a certificate.
The doctor reads your symptoms, when they started, your flight dates and the personal details you entered. Consistency matters. A name that does not match your ID, or symptoms that conflict with other answers, can stop a request.
Expect questions.
The doctor may ask follow-up questions in the digital chat to fill gaps before deciding. DrCertificate is the platform that connects you with that doctor, and DrCertificate does not diagnose, treat or prescribe. The decision belongs to the doctor alone. If you need treatment, see a clinic or hospital in Laos.
If the doctor cannot issue your certificate, no certificate is sent and the fee is not refunded. Doctors decline when details are wrong, like a name that does not match the ID, or when the symptoms and details shared are inconsistent.
Payments are non refundable, with one exception. A verified technical fault reported within 24 hours can qualify. A certificate cannot be corrected once issued unless the fault came from the medical team.
If your request is declined, visit a clinic or hospital in Laos for an in person assessment. For help, email care@drcertificate.com.
The fee for an unfit to fly certificate depends on your country, and the price for Laos is shown on the DrCertificate form before you pay. The fee covers the doctor's review of your request and a PDF certificate by email if approved.
Payment goes through Stripe. The fee is non refundable, including when the doctor declines.

Turnaround is about 30 minutes once a request with all its details reaches the doctor.
Missing details, a name and ID mismatch, or follow-up questions in the chat add time. For fitness cases, doctors work 9 am to 9 pm IST Monday to Saturday and 10 am to 8 pm IST on Sunday. Laos runs 90 minutes ahead of IST.
| Day | Hours in IST | Hours in Laos time |
|---|---|---|
| Monday to Saturday | 9 am to 9 pm | 10:30 am to 10:30 pm |
| Sunday | 10 am to 8 pm | 11:30 am to 9:30 pm |
Acceptance is decided by the organisation receiving your certificate, not by DrCertificate or the doctor. Ask your airline, employer, school or travel provider whether it accepts an online medical certificate before you apply.
Airlines set their own rules, and unfit to fly needs differ from one carrier to the next.
Lao Airlines is a useful example. Its Conditions of Carriage say it may refuse carriage under the Lao Civil Aviation Law when a passenger's health condition means flying may cause harm to that passenger, other passengers or the flight. A passenger refused under Article 8.1.3, which includes health grounds, is entitled to a refund of the fare or the unused portion, after fees and penalties under the fare rules.
If a passenger who has started a trip cannot continue within the ticket's validity for a health reason, Lao Airlines may extend validity for up to three months from the certificate date, provided a competent medical authority certifies the reason. Ask the airline whether an online certificate meets that standard.
For sick leave, Lao labour law sets the rules, and your employer can tell you what proof it wants.
An online certificate is not right for emergencies, legal matters or insurance claims. In a medical emergency in Laos, call 1195 for an ambulance or go to the nearest hospital.
DrCertificate certificates are not for legal purposes, must not be used for insurance, and are not for submission in India. Applicants must be 16 or older.
See a doctor in person at a clinic or hospital in Laos if your symptoms are severe or getting worse, if you need a physical examination, or if your airline wants its own medical clearance form completed after an exam.
Breathing difficulty, chest pain and heavy bleeding need urgent care, not an online form.
DrCertificate is an online platform operated by Health Venture OU that connects people in Laos and nine other South East Asian countries with independent doctors for suitable non emergency certificates.
Every certificate is issued by a certified doctor with an MBBS, MD or MS, and all doctors on the platform are registered with a medical council.
Fit to fly, fit to work and sports fitness requests use the Medical Fitness Certificate option, and a general medical certificate uses the Sick Leave option, so you know what to pick.
Doctors decline requests when the name and ID do not match or the details shared are inconsistent, which protects the trust placed in every certificate they sign.
Turnaround is about 30 minutes, with approved certificates sent by email as a PDF.
DrCertificate encourages you to confirm that the place of submission accepts online medical notes before you choose the service.
No. DrCertificate has no video or in person consultations. An independent certified doctor reviews your online form and may ask follow-up questions through digital chat. If your condition needs a physical examination, the doctor may decline, and a clinic visit in Laos is the better route.
Whether a certificate can cover dates before your request is the doctor's decision. Enter the true date your symptoms started and the flight dates involved. The doctor judges what the information supports and will not issue anything the details do not back up.
Your details go to the reviewing doctor, who uses them to assess your request and prepare the certificate. Card payments are taken through Stripe at checkout. For questions about how your information is stored or handled, email DrCertificate support at care@drcertificate.com before you apply.
Email care@drcertificate.com for help with a request, a payment or a technical problem. Report a technical fault within 24 hours, since a verified fault in that window is the only case where a refund applies. The address is KMC Armstrong Corporate Center, Salcedo Village, Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Yes, if your situation is not an emergency. Travellers due to fly from Wattay International Airport in Vientiane or from Luang Prabang can request an unfit to fly certificate online. Check with your airline first, because each carrier decides what medical proof it accepts for changing or refunding a ticket.
No. DrCertificate certificates must not be used for insurance claims, legal purposes or submission in India. The certificate shows an airline, employer or school that a doctor reviewed your situation. For an insurance claim, ask your insurer what documents it needs and see a doctor in person.
Anyone in Laos aged 16 or over with a suitable non emergency situation can apply through DrCertificate. Fill in the online form, choose the Unfit to Travel option and pay through Stripe. A certified doctor with an MBBS, MD or MS then reviews the request.
Start the online form when you are sure an online certificate suits your situation. An independent doctor decides whether to issue it, and fees are non refundable except for a verified technical fault within 24 hours. Questions first? Email care@drcertificate.com.
