Unfit to fly certificate
Records a doctor's view that you should not fly on the dates given, for example when you need to rebook. Choose Unfit to Travel on the form.
People in Brunei can request an unfit to fly certificate online through DrCertificate, whether they live in Bandar Seri Begawan, work in Belait or are visiting. An independent certified doctor reviews every request after a digital chat consultation.
Approval is not automatic.
The doctor decides whether a certificate is appropriate based on the details and symptoms you share. To begin, open the online form, pick the Unfit to Travel option and describe what has happened.
Yes. People in Brunei aged 16 or over can request an unfit to fly certificate from DrCertificate online. Fill in the form, pay through Stripe, and an independent certified doctor reviews your details by digital chat. If the doctor approves, the certificate arrives as a PDF by email. The service suits non emergency situations only.
Workers, students and travellers in Brunei are the people who most often need an unfit to fly certificate. The usual reason is simple: they fell ill close to a flight and want written proof that a doctor advised against flying.
Office staff in Bandar Seri Begawan, oil and gas crews rotating through Seria and Kuala Belait, and Universiti Brunei Darussalam students flying home for the holidays all run into this. Visitors leaving through Brunei International Airport face it too.
Brunei's wet months, which usually peak around the end of the year, bring fever, flu and stomach bugs that can strike just before a trip. Royal Brunei Airlines says guests with an actively contagious disease, or who need medical attention or special equipment during the flight, must get a medical certificate of fitness from a certified medical practitioner.
A traveller in that position may decide, on a doctor's advice, not to fly at all. An unfit to fly certificate records that advice in writing.
An online request lets you explain your situation by chat from home, without sitting in a clinic queue while unwell. Whether an airline, employer or travel agent accepts the certificate is their decision, so ask them first.
Match your need to the right option on the form
The right certificate depends on what the airline, employer or school has asked you to show. The DrCertificate application form has four options: Sick Leave, Unfit to Travel, Work From Home and Medical Fitness. Each certificate below maps to one of them.
Records a doctor's view that you should not fly on the dates given, for example when you need to rebook. Choose Unfit to Travel on the form.
States that a doctor found you fit to travel by air. Choose Medical Fitness on the form.
Confirms good health for a job, a course or a student requirement. Choose Medical Fitness.
For clubs, races or gyms that want proof you can take part. Choose Medical Fitness.
Covers time off work or university when you are unwell. Choose Sick Leave.
A general note about a health matter. Choose Sick Leave on the form.
Supports a request to work remotely while unwell. Choose Work From Home.
Getting an unfit to fly certificate online in Brunei takes four steps, all handled in writing. DrCertificate does not offer video or in person consultations.

Enter your personal details, choose Unfit to Travel and describe your symptoms and travel dates.
Pay the fee at the Stripe checkout. Your request then goes to a doctor.
An independent certified doctor reads your request in a digital chat and may ask follow-up questions. Reply promptly to avoid delays.
If the doctor approves, the certificate arrives as a PDF at the email address you gave. If the doctor declines, no certificate is issued.

Have your personal details, a working email address and your travel dates ready before you start. A name that does not match your ID can lead to a decline.
Gather these before opening the form.
Full name and ID number matching your identity card or passport.
An address you check often, since the PDF is sent there.
Why you cannot fly, plus the flight date or dates the certificate should cover.
Any form or wording the airline, employer or school asked for.
When symptoms started, how they affect you and any existing medical records.
The doctor reviews your symptoms, dates and personal details to judge whether an unfit to fly certificate is appropriate. The doctor checks that your account holds together, that the dates make sense and that your name and ID match.
Expect a question or two in the chat if anything is unclear. Quick answers keep things moving.
DrCertificate is a platform, not a clinic. DrCertificate does not diagnose, treat or prescribe, and the chat exists to decide on a certificate, not to replace care from your own doctor.
Paying does not guarantee a certificate. The independent doctor issues one only if the doctor finds it appropriate after reading everything you shared.
If the doctor cannot issue your certificate, no certificate is sent and the fee is not refunded. Payments are non refundable, except for a verified technical fault reported within 24 hours.
Doctors decline when details are wrong, for example a name that does not match the ID, or when the symptoms and details shared do not fit together.
If that happens, visit a clinic or hospital in Brunei in person, where a doctor can examine you. For questions about your request, email care@drcertificate.com.
The price of an unfit to fly certificate depends on your country, and the Brunei fee is shown on the form before you pay. The fee covers the doctor's review and, if approved, the PDF certificate sent by email.
Payment goes through Stripe. The fee is non refundable, including when the doctor declines.

An unfit to fly certificate takes about 30 minutes from submission to decision. Missing details, an ID that does not match, or slow replies to the doctor's follow up questions can push that out.
Fitness requests are handled from 9 am to 9 pm IST, Monday to Saturday, and 10 am to 8 pm IST on Sunday. Brunei is two and a half hours ahead of India. In Brunei time that means 11.30 am to 11.30 pm from Monday to Saturday and 12.30 pm to 10.30 pm on Sunday.
Only the airline, employer or school receiving your certificate decides whether to accept it, so ask before you apply. All DrCertificate doctors are registered with a medical council, but acceptance of online notes still differs from one organisation to the next.
Royal Brunei Airlines sets its own rules. The airline says guests who must obtain a medical certificate also have to complete a Medical Information Form for Air Travel, known as MEDIF. Royal Brunei strongly suggests telling it about special assistance needs at least 48 hours before departure whenever possible, and it acknowledges requests once the Incapacitated Handling Advice Form, MEDIF and supporting documents are submitted.
Other airlines handle fit to fly and unfit to fly paperwork in their own way.
For work, Brunei's Employment Order 2009 sets sick leave rules for private sector employees. Ask your HR team whether an online note qualifies.
An online unfit to fly certificate is not right for emergencies. In Brunei, call 991 for an ambulance if you have chest pain, trouble breathing, heavy bleeding or a serious injury.
DrCertificate certificates are not for legal purposes, insurance claims or submission in India. Applicants must be 16 or older.
Visit a clinic or hospital in person when symptoms are getting worse, when you need a physical examination, or when an airline asks for a form signed by a doctor who examined you.
DrCertificate is an online platform operated by Health Venture OU that connects people in Brunei and nine other South East Asian countries with independent doctors. Every doctor on the platform is registered with a medical council.
Doctors decline about 2% of requests. The usual reasons are a name and ID that do not match, or symptoms and details that are inconsistent.
All doctors on the platform are registered with a medical council.
You are encouraged to confirm that your airline, employer or school accepts online medical notes before applying.
Fit to fly, sports fitness and fit to work certificates use the Medical Fitness option. A general medical certificate uses Sick Leave.
In most South East Asian countries, sick leave and work from home notes go up to 7 days for generic symptoms, and fitness notes are generally valid for 30 days.
No video call or clinic visit is needed. DrCertificate works through an online form and a digital chat with an independent certified doctor, and there are no video or in person consultations. If your condition needs a physical examination, the doctor may decline and you should visit a clinic in Brunei.
Whether a certificate covers past dates is the doctor's decision. Tell the doctor when symptoms started and which flight you missed or need to change. The doctor issues a certificate only for dates that match the information shared, and may decline if the dates and symptoms do not line up.
Your details go to the doctor reviewing your request, and an approved certificate is sent as a PDF to the email you provide. Card payments are handled through the Stripe checkout. For questions about how DrCertificate stores or uses your data, email care@drcertificate.com before you apply.
Email care@drcertificate.com to reach DrCertificate support. Include the name and email used on your request so the team can find it quickly. Support handles questions before you apply and technical faults, which must be reported within 24 hours to be considered for a refund.
Yes, you can apply if you are in Brunei, aged 16 or over, and your situation is not an emergency. Choose Unfit to Travel on the form. Check first whether your airline, Royal Brunei or another carrier, accepts an online certificate when you ask to change a booking.
No. Royal Brunei Airlines says guests who must obtain a medical certificate also need to complete its Medical Information Form for Air Travel, or MEDIF. The airline's form is separate from any certificate. Contact Royal Brunei at least 48 hours before departure where possible to confirm what it needs.
No. Applicants must be at least 16 years old. A younger traveller in Brunei who is too unwell to fly should visit a clinic or hospital in person with a parent or guardian, where a doctor can examine them and advise on travel.
Open the online form, choose Unfit to Travel and share your details with an independent certified doctor. The doctor decides whether to issue a certificate, and fees are non refundable. Questions first? Email care@drcertificate.com.
