Yes. DrCertificate connects people with shingles to certified doctors (MBBS, MD or MS) who review requests through a digital chat consultation and decide whether to issue a medical certificate. Approved certificates arrive as a PDF by email. The service suits non emergency cases only and cannot be submitted in India, used for legal purposes or used for insurance.
A medical certificate for shingles is a signed note from a certified doctor confirming that you were assessed by chat and, in the doctor's judgement, need time off or need to work from home for a stated period. The certificate records that decision and nothing more.
DrCertificate does not diagnose, treat or prescribe.
For shingles, the Sick Leave option is the usual match. Work From Home suits people who can work but whose rash is still weeping. Most people show the certificate to an employer, an HR team, a school or a university, which then decides whether to accept it.
A doctor on DrCertificate can consider typical shingles on the trunk or face, away from the eye, when you can describe it well in writing. Shingles is caused by the varicella zoster virus, the same virus behind chickenpox, waking up again in a nerve.
Shingles usually moves through stages, and the doctor looks at where you are in them.
The doctor decides whether any rest is needed and for how long, based on your consultation. No set number of days is promised, and a small rash with mild pain may need less time than a painful, oozing one.
Shingles on or near the eye or nose, or in someone who is pregnant or has a severely weakened immune system, is not suitable for a chat consultation.
Burning, tingling or itching skin on one side of the body, often in the days before any rash shows.
A band or patch of fluid filled blisters on one side of the chest, back, waist or face, often with pain, fever or tiredness.
The blisters dry and scab over, usually within 7 to 10 days, while soreness can linger.
Pain that stays after the skin heals, known as postherpetic neuralgia, which can affect sleep and focus.
Tell the doctor what your shingles feels like, where the rash is, and when it started. Clear details give the doctor what they need to decide.
Mention burning or tingling pain, a band of blisters on one side of the body, and any fever, headache or tiredness. Say whether the blisters are still oozing or have dried and crusted, and rate how bad the pain is. If a clinic has already seen you, share any report or test result you have.
End with the leave you are asking for, including the start date and the number of days.
Shingles is not suitable for an online certificate if the rash is on your eye or nose, your vision changes, you are pregnant or you have a severely weakened immune system. The NHS advises asking for an urgent doctor appointment in any of those situations.
Go to emergency care for a rash spreading across large areas of skin, a high fever with confusion, or new weakness on one side of the face.
DrCertificate is only for suitable non emergency situations and does not diagnose, treat or prescribe. A doctor may decline any request that cannot be safely judged by chat.
Most people with shingles choose the Sick Leave option, or Work From Home if they can work but the rash cannot yet be covered. Pick the option that matches what your employer or school asked for.
| Form option | When it suits someone with shingles | Good to know |
|---|---|---|

| Unfit to Travel | Shingles stops you from flying or travelling as planned | Check the rules of your airline or travel provider |
| Medical Fitness | The rash has dried and your employer or school wants proof you are fit to return | Covers fit to work requests |

If the doctor does not issue a certificate for shingles, you receive no certificate and your payment is not refunded. Each doctor makes an independent decision.
Requests are declined when details are wrong, for example a name that does not match the ID, or when the symptoms and details shared do not add up. A request showing warning signs, like a rash near the eye, needs in person care instead of chat.
A certificate cannot be corrected once issued unless the fault came from the medical team. Questions go to care@drcertificate.com.

Approved certificates arrive in your inbox as a PDF, usually in about 30 minutes.
DrCertificate encourages every applicant to confirm that the place of submission accepts online medical notes first.
Health Venture OU operates the platform, with an office at KMC Armstrong Corporate Center, Salcedo Village, Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Contact care@drcertificate.com.
Yes, you can mention any test results or clinic reports you already have when you fill in the form. The doctor reads them alongside your symptoms when deciding whether to issue a certificate. DrCertificate does not interpret results or give treatment advice, so keep following the clinic that ordered them.
The doctor decides the leave period, if any, after reviewing your request. In most South East Asian countries, sick leave and work from home notes go up to 7 days for generic symptoms. The NHS suggests staying off work until the shingles rash has dried out, which can guide what you ask for.
Acceptance depends on your employer or institution, not on DrCertificate. Every doctor on the platform is registered with a medical council, yet each workplace sets its own rules. Check with HR or your school office that online medical notes are accepted before you apply, because payments are non refundable.
No. DrCertificate works only through a digital chat consultation, with no video calls or in person visits. If you need a doctor to look at your rash, for example when it is near your eye, visit a clinic or hospital instead. The chat service suits non emergency shingles cases.
Seek in person medical care straight away if your shingles gets worse. Urgent signs include a rash on your eye or nose, changes to your vision, a rash spreading widely or a high fever with confusion. A certificate from DrCertificate does not replace treatment, and the service is not for emergencies.
You can usually return once the rash has dried out, according to the NHS. The NHS advises staying off work or school if the rash is still oozing fluid and cannot be covered. A Work From Home certificate may suit you if you feel able to work while the rash is still weeping.
Apply now to request a medical certificate for shingles. The fee is 25 SGD in Singapore, 399 pesos in the Philippines or 30 MYR in Malaysia, and approved certificates arrive by email as a PDF. If the rash reaches your eye or your vision changes, seek urgent care instead.
