Unfit to fly certificate
For a doctor's view that you are too unwell to board a flight. Choose Unfit to Travel on the form.
DrCertificate lets people in Vietnam request an unfit to fly certificate online, without a clinic queue. An independent certified doctor reviews each request after a digital chat consultation and decides whether a certificate is appropriate.
Issue is never automatic.
Fill in the online form, choose the Unfit to Travel option, and the doctor takes it from there. Approved certificates arrive by email as a PDF.
Yes. Anyone in Vietnam aged 16 or over can request an unfit to fly certificate online through DrCertificate. You complete an online form, pay through Stripe, and an independent certified doctor reviews the request by digital chat. If approved, the certificate arrives as a PDF by email. The service suits non emergency situations only.
People in Vietnam ask for an unfit to fly certificate when illness stops them boarding a planned flight and they need a doctor's written view for an airline, employer or school. Workers posted to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, students heading home between terms and visitors on short trips all run into this.
Timing in Vietnam often comes down to the weather.
The southern rainy season, roughly May to November, brings stomach bugs and fevers that leave travellers too weak for a flight out of Tan Son Nhat. Hanoi's damp winters bring chest colds and blocked ears that make pressure changes on a plane painful. Around Tet, flights from Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat and Da Nang fill fast and a missed booking is hard to replace.
A visitor who falls ill in a Da Nang hotel the night before departure has little time to find a clinic.
An online request fits those moments. You describe your symptoms from where you are, a doctor reviews them, and you get a decision without leaving bed. Whether an airline or employer accepts the note is their call.
Four options on the form cover every certificate below
An unfit to fly certificate is the right choice when illness means you should not travel by air on a planned date. The DrCertificate application form has four options: Sick Leave, Unfit to Travel, Work From Home and Medical Fitness Certificate.
For a doctor's view that you are too unwell to board a flight. Choose Unfit to Travel on the form.

You get an unfit to fly certificate online in Vietnam in four steps: fill in the form, pay through Stripe, answer the doctor in a digital chat, and wait for the decision by email. No video calls or in person visits happen at any stage.

Enter your details, choose Unfit to Travel, and describe your symptoms and the flight dates involved.
The fee is paid at checkout before the doctor reviews your request.
An independent certified doctor reads your answers and may send follow-up questions in the chat.
If the doctor approves, the certificate arrives as a PDF at the email address you gave.
You'll continue on the secure DrCertificate application form.
Have your personal details, a working email address, your flight dates and a clear account of your symptoms ready before you start. Your name must match your ID, because a mismatch is a common reason doctors decline.
Your full name as shown on your ID, your age and an email inbox you can check.
The flight you cannot take, its date, and how long you expect to be unwell.
Any form or wording your airline, employer or school asked for.
When symptoms started, medicines taken and any existing medical records.
The doctor reads everything you submitted and decides independently whether an unfit to fly certificate is appropriate. Paying the fee buys a review, not a guaranteed certificate.
The doctor looks at your symptoms, when they started, your travel dates and whether the details you gave fit together. If something is unclear, the doctor can ask follow-up questions in the chat, and quick, honest answers keep things moving.
DrCertificate does not diagnose, treat or prescribe.
The platform connects you with a doctor who judges whether a certificate is warranted on the information in front of them. A certificate is issued only when that doctor finds it appropriate. If your condition needs an examination or treatment, the doctor may tell you to see a clinic in person instead.
That advice is part of the review, and it is just as protective for you as for anyone reading the certificate later.
If the doctor declines, you receive no certificate and the fee is not refunded. Doctors decline about 2% of requests, when details are wrong, for example a name and ID that do not match, or when the symptoms and details shared are inconsistent.
Payments are non refundable, except for a verified technical fault reported within 24 hours.
Your next step is a clinic or hospital in Vietnam where a doctor can examine you in person. For questions about your request, email care@drcertificate.com.
The price of an unfit to fly certificate depends on your country, and the amount for Vietnam is shown on the form before you pay. Published prices elsewhere are 25 SGD in Singapore, 399 pesos in the Philippines and 30 MYR in Malaysia.
The fee covers the doctor's review and, if approved, the PDF certificate. Payment goes through Stripe and is non refundable.
| Country | Price per certificate | What the fee covers |
|---|---|---|
| Vietnam | Shown on the form at checkout | Doctor review and PDF if approved |
| Singapore | 25 SGD | Doctor review and PDF if approved |
| Philippines | 399 pesos | Doctor review and PDF if approved |

An unfit to fly certificate request in Vietnam takes about 30 minutes from submission to decision. Missing details, a name that does not match your ID, or follow-up questions in the chat can add time.
Published doctor hours for fitness cases run 9 am to 9 pm IST Monday to Saturday and 10 am to 8 pm IST on Sunday. In Vietnam time that means 10:30 am to 10:30 pm Monday to Saturday, and 11:30 am to 9:30 pm on Sunday.
Apply early if your flight leaves soon.
Acceptance is decided by the organisation receiving the certificate, which is why you should check with your employer, school or airline before you apply. All doctors on DrCertificate are registered with a medical council, but no online note is accepted everywhere.
Airlines set their own rules. Vietnam Airlines asks passengers who need medical clearance to self declare and sign MEDIF I, then take MEDIF II to a medical facility that meets its standards. The airline lists specialist hospitals, general hospitals, district level health centres, private hospitals, family clinics and SOS Clinics in Vietnam, plus legal medical facilities chosen by passengers abroad.
Clearance must be obtained within 14 days of the departure date of each sector, or within 7 days for passengers booking stretchers or oxygen or bringing medical equipment on board.
That clearance is for flying with a condition, a different need from showing you are too unwell to fly.
For work, Vietnam's social insurance sick pay runs on its own paperwork, and a DrCertificate note must not be used for insurance.
An online unfit to fly certificate is not right for emergencies. If you have chest pain, trouble breathing, heavy bleeding or sudden weakness, call 115 for an ambulance in Vietnam or go to the nearest hospital.
The certificate is not for legal purposes, insurance claims or submission in India. Applicants must be 16 or older.
Book an in person visit at a local clinic or hospital when you need an examination, tests, treatment or airline medical clearance through a form like MEDIF II. A doctor in the room can check things a chat never will.
DrCertificate is an online platform operated by Health Venture OU that connects people in Vietnam and nine other South East Asian countries with independent certified doctors. The reasons below come from how the service works.
Every certificate is issued by a certified doctor with an MBBS, MD or MS, and all doctors on the platform are registered with a medical council.
Doctors decline about 2% of requests, when the name and ID do not match or the symptoms and details are inconsistent.
In most South East Asian countries, sick leave and work from home notes go up to 7 days for generic symptoms, and fitness notes are generally valid for 30 days.
Customers are encouraged to confirm that the place of submission accepts online medical notes before choosing the service.
No. DrCertificate has no video or in person consultations. An independent certified doctor reviews your online form and may ask follow-up questions through a digital chat. If the doctor feels your condition needs an examination, the right step is a clinic or hospital in Vietnam instead of an online certificate.
The doctor decides whether a certificate can cover dates before your request. Explain clearly when your symptoms started and which flight you missed or need to cancel. Dates must fit the information you shared, and a certificate cannot be corrected once issued unless the fault came from the medical team.
Your form details go to the doctor reviewing your request and are used to prepare your certificate if it is approved. Card payments are processed by Stripe at checkout. For any question about how your personal data is handled, email the DrCertificate support team at care@drcertificate.com before you apply.
Email care@drcertificate.com for help with a request, a payment or a technical problem. DrCertificate is operated by Health Venture OU at KMC Armstrong Corporate Center, H.V. Dela Costa, Salcedo Village, Makati City, 1227 Metro Manila, Philippines. Report technical faults within 24 hours to stay eligible for a refund.
Yes, if you are 16 or over and the situation is not an emergency. Submit the form from wherever you are, with your flight date and symptoms. An approved certificate arrives as a PDF by email for you to send to the airline. Acceptance is the airline's decision.
No. Vietnam Airlines uses MEDIF I, signed by the passenger, and MEDIF II, completed at a medical facility that meets its standards, for passengers who want to fly with a medical condition. Clearance falls within 14 days of each sector's departure. An unfit to fly certificate states you should not travel.
No. A DrCertificate certificate must not be used for insurance claims, legal purposes or submission in India. For a travel insurance claim, ask your insurer which documents it needs and visit a clinic or hospital in Vietnam that can provide them after an in person examination.
Start the online form and choose Unfit to Travel. An independent doctor decides whether to issue your certificate, and fees are non refundable, including when a request is declined. Questions first? Email care@drcertificate.com.
