Medical fitness certificate
For employee or student fitness checks, good health statements, new jobs and enrolment. Choose Medical Fitness Certificate on the form.
People in Laos can request an online fitness certificate through DrCertificate, a platform that connects you with independent certified doctors. Each request is read by a doctor after a digital chat consultation.
Issue is never automatic.
The doctor decides whether a certificate is right for your situation, based on what you share in the form and the chat. Start whenever you are ready, from Vientiane, Luang Prabang or anywhere else in the country.
Yes. Anyone in Laos aged 16 or over can request an online fitness certificate or medical certificate from DrCertificate. You fill in an online form, pay through Stripe, and an independent doctor reviews the request. If approved, the certificate arrives as a PDF by email. The service suits non emergency situations only.
Workers, students and travellers are the groups in Laos who most often need a medical certificate. Employees ask for one after illness or before a new role, students need one for absence or enrolment, and visitors need one when sickness upsets travel plans.
Lao law builds health checks into working life. Article 126 of the Lao Labor Law requires employers to help with medical examinations of employees at least once a year, and at least twice a year for people working in dangerous areas or at night. Article 43 lists good health among the conditions for foreign labour working in the Lao PDR.
The rainy season, roughly May to October, brings colds, stomach bugs and illness spread by mosquitoes.
Travel is the other common trigger. A tourist who falls ill in Luang Prabang, or a resident about to fly out of Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, may need a fitness note or an unfit to fly note at short notice.
An online request lets you start from a phone or laptop without queuing at a clinic. You can do it from a hotel room or your desk. Whether a school, employer or airline takes the note is still their decision.
Pick the option that matches your reason
The medical fitness certificate covers most fitness needs in Laos, including sports, travel and work. The application form has four options: Sick Leave, Unfit to Travel, Work From Home and Medical Fitness Certificate.
For employee or student fitness checks, good health statements, new jobs and enrolment. Choose Medical Fitness Certificate on the form.
For clubs, gyms, races or competitions that want proof you are fit to take part. Choose Medical Fitness Certificate on the form.
For an airline or employer asking whether you are fit to travel or return to duty. Choose Medical Fitness Certificate on the form.
For time off work or university because of illness. Choose Sick Leave on the form.
For a general note about a health matter. Choose Sick Leave on the form.
For days when you can still work but should stay home. Choose Work From Home on the form.
For when illness means you should not travel. Choose Unfit to Travel on the form.
You get one in four steps: complete the online form, pay through Stripe, answer the doctor in a digital chat, then wait for the decision by email.
There are no video or in person consultations at any stage.

Choose your certificate option, enter your details and describe your reason and the dates you need.
Pay the fee at the Stripe checkout. The review starts once payment is complete.
An independent doctor reads your request and may ask follow-up questions in the chat. Reply promptly to avoid delays.
If the doctor approves, the certificate arrives as a PDF at the email address you gave. If the doctor declines, no certificate is issued.

Have your personal details, a working email address, your reason and dates, and any required wording ready before you start. Gathering these first saves back and forth with the doctor.
Your full name and ID details, matching your ID card or passport. A name that does not match the ID is a common reason for decline.
The approved PDF goes to this address, so check the spelling.
Why you need the certificate and the dates it should cover.
Any form or wording your employer, school, airline or sports body asked for.
Current symptoms and any existing medical records that relate to the request.
The doctor reads everything you submitted and decides independently whether a certificate is appropriate. The review covers your stated reason, symptoms, dates, personal details and any records you attached, and checks that they agree with each other.
The doctor may message you with follow-up questions in the chat.
Short, honest answers keep things moving. If your details conflict, for example a name that does not match your ID, the doctor may decline.
DrCertificate is a platform, not a clinic. DrCertificate does not diagnose, treat or prescribe, and paying the fee does not guarantee a certificate. The certificate is issued only when the doctor finds it appropriate for your situation.
If the doctor cannot issue your certificate, the request closes without one and the fee is not refunded. Doctors decline about 2% of requests, usually because the name and ID do not match or the symptoms and details are inconsistent.
Payments are non refundable, with one exception: a verified technical fault reported within 24 hours.
If you are declined, book an in person visit at a local clinic or hospital in Laos. A doctor there can examine you directly. For questions about your request, email care@drcertificate.com.
The fee for Laos is shown at the Stripe checkout before you confirm payment, because DrCertificate sets prices by country. For comparison, the fee is 25 SGD in Singapore, 399 pesos in the Philippines and 30 MYR in Malaysia.
The fee covers the doctor review and, if approved, the certificate as a PDF by email.
Payment goes through Stripe. The fee is non refundable, including when the doctor declines.

A typical turnaround is about 30 minutes during doctor hours. Missing details, mismatched names or follow up questions in the chat can add time.
Doctor hours for fitness cases are set in Indian Standard Time. Laos is 90 minutes ahead of IST, so in Laos time that means 10:30 am to 10:30 pm Monday to Saturday and 11:30 am to 9:30 pm on Sunday.
Submit early in that window if you need the note the same day.
Acceptance is decided by the organisation receiving the certificate, so check with your employer, school, airline or sports body before you apply. DrCertificate encourages every customer to confirm that the place of submission accepts online medical notes.
Lao labour rules give employers a role in employee health. Article 126 of the Lao Labor Law, No. 43/NA, requires employers to help medical examinations at least once a year, and at least twice a year for dangerous or night work. Article 43 makes good health a condition for foreign labour in the Lao PDR.
An employer may run those checks through its own clinic or form, and an online note may not replace them.
Airlines set their own rules.
Fit to fly and unfit to fly requirements differ by carrier, and a carrier may ask for its own medical form. Read the airline's guidance before you request a note.
Schools and sports bodies can also ask for set wording. Keep that wording ready and mention it in your form.
An online certificate is not right for emergencies, legal matters, insurance claims or anyone under 16. In an emergency in Laos, call 1195 for an ambulance or go straight to the nearest hospital.
DrCertificate certificates are not for legal purposes, must not be used for insurance, and are not for submission in India.
Choose an in person visit at a local clinic or hospital if you need a physical examination, tests or treatment. The same goes for symptoms that are severe, getting worse or hard to explain. A doctor who can examine you is the safer choice in those cases.
DrCertificate is operated by Health Venture OU and serves people in Laos and nine other South East Asian countries. The reasons below come straight from how the service works.
All doctors on the platform are registered with a medical council and hold MBBS, MD or MS qualifications.
Sports fitness, fit to fly and fit to work certificates all use the Medical Fitness Certificate option, and a general medical certificate uses the Sick Leave option.
Doctors decline about 2% of requests, when details are wrong or the symptoms and information shared do not agree.
In most South East Asian countries, sick leave and work from home notes go up to 7 days for generic symptoms, and fitness notes are generally valid for 30 days.
Customers are encouraged to check that the place of submission accepts online medical notes before applying.
No. DrCertificate works through a digital chat only, with no video or in person consultations at any stage. The doctor reviews your form and may send follow up questions in the chat. If your situation needs a physical examination, a local clinic or hospital in Laos is the better choice.
Whether a certificate covers past dates is decided by the doctor alone. You can state the dates you need in the form, and the doctor weighs whether your details support them. DrCertificate cannot promise backdating, and a certificate cannot be corrected once issued unless the fault came from the medical team.
Your personal details go to the reviewing doctor for the assessment and are used to email your certificate if approved. Card payments are processed by Stripe. Give only the details the form asks for. For questions about how your data is kept, email care@drcertificate.com before you apply.
Email care@drcertificate.com for help with a request, a payment or a technical problem. Include the name and email address you used on the form so the team can find your request quickly. Report technical faults within 24 hours, because a verified fault in that window is the only refund exception.
Yes, you can request one through the Medical Fitness Certificate option, and the doctor decides whether to issue it. Check your airline's rules first, because carriers flying from Wattay International Airport in Vientiane or from Luang Prabang set their own medical requirements. Apply well before departure to allow for follow-up questions.
Fitness notes are generally valid for 30 days in most South East Asian countries, though the receiving organisation decides what it accepts. Sick leave and work from home notes usually go up to 7 days for generic symptoms. Ask your employer, school or airline whether it applies its own time limit.
Start the online form and an independent doctor will review your request. The doctor decides whether to issue a certificate, and fees are non refundable. Questions before you apply? Email care@drcertificate.com.
